EWS HOUSING SCHEME

Under National Housing Policy, the Central Government has decided to construct two million houses per year; predominantly benefiting the poor and the deprived.

Under the Chief Minister's 15 point development program and Government of India's 20 point program, the Government has given target to construct about 8954 EWS houses including target for the Year 2006-2007.

Year wise target given to the corporation for the scheme is as below.

Subsidy Received	Surat Municipal Corporation received and passed to beneficiaries subsidy of Rs. 5000/- per dwelling unit. Total Subsidy is Rs. 3,71,20,000/- for 7424 units.
Salient Features	One Room, Kitchen, W.C., Chowkdi, Balcony, Under ground and Overhead water tank and all infra structure facilities like water supply, drainage, street light, Road.
